The name of the facility is thanks to Sister Giuseppina Bonino, foundress of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Savigliano (CN)! A religious order that has always dealt with the most disadvantaged female condition, with particular attention to orphan girls in the Savigliano area. At the end of the 19th century, in fact, Piedmont was experiencing the effects – not always positive – of the First Industrial Revolution.

Today, the Sisters of the Holy Family continue to dedicate themselves to families experiencing hardship. The main activity is preschools – kindergarten in particular – and, in continuity with their origins, the Sisters are still very attentive to the condition of women.

It was Giuseppina Bonino herself who strongly desired the presence of this order in Loreto in 1890. It is no coincidence that it is in Loreto that the Basilica, the place where the Holy House of Nazareth is kept, has stood since 1587. According to devotional tradition, the latter is where the Virgin Mary received the Annunciation. Today that original presence has been transformed into a home for pilgrims, becoming our beloved Pensione Piemonte.

Currently, the approximately 40 religious sisters of the Holy Family live in four communities: Savigliano, where we find the Motherhouse and the Novitiate; Loreto, which houses the Piedmont Boarding House; and Savona, where the headquarters was opened in 1901 by the Mother Foundress and has become today the “Mother Bonino House of Worldliness.”
